 Hemicell® is a proprietary and unique β-mannanase enzyme-based feed additive that offers many benefits when used in broiler diets. Soybean meal, sunflower meal, and canola meal all contain β-mannan, a highly anti-nutritive fiber which inhibits live performance in broilers. Hemicell® degrades and eliminates the negative effects of β-mannan. Broiler diets formulated with wheat in addition to soy are more nutritive when Hemicell®-W is added to the feed. This new feed enzyme product contains xylanase, which targets the xylans present in wheat, together with the β-mannanase that acts on the soy.

Mechanism of Action
Hemicell®, Hemicell®-HT, and Hemicell®-W Feed Enzyme products provide a source of β-mannanase enzyme (and xylanase enzyme in the case of Hemicell®-W), which degrades the β-mannan fiber found primarily in soybean meal (as well as acts on xylans in wheat, when Hemicell®-W is used). The elimination of this fiber has been shown to provide these commercial benefits: (i) more efficient utilization of feed ingredients, (ii) improvement in the uniformity of broiler body weights, (iii) reduction in mortality rates, (iv) reduction in fecal production, (v) increase in breast meat yield, and (vi) improved performance in the presence of a disease challenge.
