A commercial study in pullets (0 to 15 weeks) was conducted with Wenger Feeds. Three diets were fed in this study; a control diet which contained a typical industry energy level, a low-energy diet which was formulated to be 45 Kcal/lb less in energy, and the low energy diet to which Hemicell^® was added. The results from this study are shown in Table 1 below.

The above data show that the addition of Hemicell^® improves the uniformity of birds fed the low energy diet so that their uniformity exceeds that of the high energy control. This data is consistent with the improvements in uniformity observed in many studies with broilers and turkeys. The figure below demonstrates Hemicell^®'s improvement to the uniformity of broiler body weights which is achieved by eliminating the lower weight birds in the frequency distribution.
