Improved Feed Efficiency

In a study conducted at Auburn University in the laboratory of Dr. David Roland, the performance of Hemicell® in Hyline W36 post molt layers (90 to 102 weeks) was evaluated. Three treatments consisted of the two basal diets and the low-energy basal diet with Hemicell®. The data from this experiment is summarized in Table 1.

Table 1 – Post Molt Layers at Auburn University
ME Hemicell® Hen-Day Production (%) Egg Weight (lb/case) Feed Intake (lb/100/d) Gram-feed/Gram-egg
Control - 72.14a 53.08 21.37 2.01b
Control,
less 55 kcal/lb
- 69.44b 52.74 21.78 2.15a
+ 71.65a 52.44 21.52 2.06b
Difference 3.2% -0.9% -1.2% 4.4%

The data above demonstrate that the addition of Hemicell® improves the performance of the layers fed the low energy diet such that it was statistically identical to the performance of the positive control. Hemicell® may be formulated into feeds using the matrix of values in the table below.
